OUR STORY

Sam Dinovo Sr. opened the Dinovo Fruit Company in 1913. A proud immigrant from Sicily, he built his company on quality, service and irreproachable ethics. Starting by peddling bananas to local neighborhood grocery stores, he soon was buying carloads of bananas and ripening them in his store front warehouse in Delaware, Ohio. With the end of World War II his six sons formed a new company, Dinovo Brothers, Inc., to more efficiently distribute produce to the many super-markets that were springing up throughout Ohio. With the state-of-the-art banana ripening rooms, coolers of various temperatures to handle all types of fresh fruit items and multiple docks, the brothers were well equipped to carry on their father’s tradition of quality and service.

In 1970 one of the brothers, Mike Dinovo Sr., formed a new company, Central Marketing Associates, Inc. Noting the need to offer volume purchasing to the wholesale and chain distributors, he quickly attracted man of the best companies within five midwestern states. As time went on and customers needed customization, CMA added freight and merchandise to the list of services. To better handle the growth in business, he was joined by his sons Rick and Mike Dinovo Jr. Again following the tradition of quality and service, Central Marketing Associates, Inc. was made a Trading Member by the Blue Book in 1977 and received the Business Character Award from The Red Book that same year.

In 1997 Rick and Mike Dinovo Jr. assumed leadership role of Central Marketing Associates, Inc. They have continued in the same tradition established by their grandfather, Sam, so many years ago – provide quality and service for their customers while maintaining the highest ethics and morals.
